Assumed Name Certificate for unincorporated persons shall be filed with the County Clerk's Office in each county in which the person will maintain a business premises or where the person conducts business or renders service if the person will not maintain a business premises in any county. An Assumed Name is not a business license. Contact City Hall in the city in which the business is to be conducted to find out if a business license is required in that city. Other licensing requirements may apply depending on the location and type of business.
File a new form within 60 days if any of the information changes. If you discontinue using the business name, file an abandonment. If you are still using the name at the end of ten years, you must file a new form.
