Duties |

Under general supervision, receives, interprets and transmits routine and emergency information via telephone, radio and computer terminal.
Receives reports by telephone or radio for public safety service; Determines the nature of requests for service, decides the proper priority and response code; Monitors radio traffic originating from other jurisdictions; Answers 911 telephones; Operates multi-purpose computer terminals interfaced with radio-telephone console and other computer systems; Monitors the status of field units to ensure officer safety and the availability for dispatch; Supplies information to other agencies, offices and to the public; Performs other related duties as required. |

Experience |
|
Six months experience of public contact, communications or other related experience preferred; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training. Computers and windows experience. |
|
Education |
|
High school diploma or GED equivalency. |
|
Special Requirements |
•Ability to operate radio equipment; •Ability to speak clearly and distinctly; •Ability to hear; •Ability to exercise good judgment, analyze situations, and to react swiftly and rationally in stressful situations, utilizing appropriate procedures and resources; •Ability to establish and maintain working relationship with other law enforcement officials/agencies. •Ability to type 35 WPM; •Must successfully complete all mandated certification programs within established time frames.
Applicants for Commissioned Law Enforcement positions, including Dispatch, must have a notarized TCLEOSE Waiver accompanying their Johnson County Application for Employment. |
