Introduction
This summary is
designed to help your company participate in the market created by
Johnson County's needs. The demand for goods and services within the
County results in a continuous need for items of every nature and
description. We hope this summary will help you become familiar with
our policies and procedures for procurement, which in turn will aid in

Department
Organization
Texas statutes, Local
Government Code, Chapter 262, govern Johnson County purchasing
procedures. These statutes including interpretations of them made by
Texas courts are the ultimate authority on the validity of purchasing
procedures.
The Purchasing
Department is a member of the administrative team of Johnson County.
The Purchasing Board comprised of the three District Judges and County
Judge appoints the Purchasing Agent for a two year term. The
Purchasing Agent's job is to protect the interest of the Johnson
County taxpayers and is responsible for assuring fair and equitable
treatment to all vendors without regard to political pressure. The
Purchasing Agent is charged with the responsibility of purchasing
supplies, materials and equipment required and contracting for all
repairs to property and supervises all purchases made on competitive
bid.
