County Treasurer Barbara Robinson has announced that she is a candidate for re-election as Johnson County Treasurer, an office she has held since 1994. She is a Certified County Treasurer by the County Treasurer’s Association of Texas through the Vernon G. Young Institute of County Government at Texas A & M. She achieved County Investment Officer certification in 1997 and has maintained a Level II certification through the Texas Association of Counties. Robinson has served as president of Region VI of the County Treasurer’s Association of Texas, representing 21 counties and during her tenure as your county treasurer, she has attained over 470 accredited hours in local government education and public funds investing.

Robinson and husband, Jackie Vinson, resides in Cleburne and she is a 52 year resident of Johnson County. She is a graduate of Cleburne High School and attended Stephen F. Austin University. She is the daughter of the late C.L. (Robbie) and Ruby Robinson of Cleburne. Her son Rob Moser and wife Tacy live in Austin and are parents of her three grandchildren Lauren, Luke and Sam. Daughter, Shanna Forsythe Nash and husband Jerry live in Arlington with two grandchildren, Austen and Conner. Grandchildren Ty, Stormy and Cole live in Gainesville, children of her late daughter Angie Forsythe Herzberg.  Michael and Amber Vinson of Fort Worth are the parents of granddaughter, Jaiden.   Robinson owned and operated her own business for thirteen years before joining the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in 1986.

The Treasurer’s Office is an independent, elected office that provides vital checks and balances insuring fiscal integrity and safety of public funds. The office is a working office, charged by state law to receive, invest and maintain all money received from every department within the county. Robinson believes that GOOD government begins at ‘home’ and local county government is accountable to you, the voter. She views your County Treasurer’s duties to be that of an aggressive cash manager receiving money and making deposits on a daily basis in order to earn the best return on your tax dollars. The office also receives funds from the federal and state agencies.
