EVS 6300
The ExpressVote (EVS) 6300 is a ballot marking device that is used as an accessible voting device for quick and convenient voting and has additional accessible features for voters with disabilities.
Voters insert a blank thermal paper card (distributed by the poll workers) and on the screen it will display your ballot. The voter then marks the ballot by using the touchscreen display. When the voter is finished, the thermal paper will eject with a bar code printed on it and the voter will drop this paper in the ballot box like the traditional paper ballots. When tabulating the papers, the Elections Systems & Software (ES&S) DS950 reads the bar code.
For convenience, voters can quickly insert the blank paper and select their preferred choice on the touchscreen.
For voter’s with disabilities, the ExpressVote will have accessible voting through a tethered Audio-Tactile Interface (ATI). The ATI will have navigation buttons on the controller resembling a television remote, and can also support headphones for voters who are visually impaired and a sip-and-puff device for voters with motor impairments. ES&S DS950
The DS950 is a central-count optical scan tabulator that can tabulate absentee, early-voting, and election day ballots quickly, and sorts them by ExpressVote, counted, write-ins, and ballots that require further review. The tabulator requires security codes for specific administrative and election functions, and uses keylocks and seals to protect against tampering within the unit.
