Vacation / Sick Days
Following the successful completion of the 13-pay-period orientation period, full-time employees become eligible for vacation and sick leave benefits as follows:
| Service Time | Accrual Time / Maximum Hours |
| 6 months - 5 years | 3.076 hours every pay period/ maximum of 120 hours |
| 5 - 10 years | 3.692 hours every pay period/ maximum of 144 hours |
| 10 - 15 years | 4.615 hours every pay period/ maximum of 180 hours |
| 15 - 20 years | 5.23 hours every pay period/ maximum of 204 hours |
| 20 + years | 6.153 hours every pay period/ maximum of 240 hours |
Sick Leave
Employees accrue 3.692 hours every pay period, with a maximum accrual of 720 hours.
Bonus Vacation
Employees who do not use any sick time over the course of one year will be awarded three paid bonus vacation days (24 hours) in addition to their regular earned vacation time.
Personal Time
Each January, 24 hours of personal time is allocated to employees. Employees must complete a 6-month orientation period before becoming eligible for personal time. Personal time does not carry over from year to year. Employees will not be compensated for unused personal time upon leaving Johnson County.

Johnson County provides a comprehensive retirement plan through the Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS), helping employees build a secure financial future.

Cafeteria Plan & Deferred Compensation
Employees can also take advantage of flexible benefits designed to reduce taxable income and support long-term financial goals. Deferred Compensation Programs are available through Nationwide and Corebridge Financial, offering a variety of tax-advantaged savings strategies.
Pay
Employees are paid bi-weekly, every other Friday. Payroll is processed two weeks after the time is worked. If a payday falls on a county holiday, employees will be paid on the preceding workday.
Paid Holidays
The county provides 13 paid holidays each year.
