Featured Artifact: 1905 Marriage License

The first featured artifact in the Clerk's Collection is this original Johnson County marriage license, issued in 1905. Richly illustrated with ornate Victorian-era artwork, it documents the marriage of W.O. Claesberk and Fannie Scales, who exchanged vows on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1905. Recently rediscovered while organizing historical records, this remarkable document highlights the County Clerk's longstanding role in preserving the stories and milestones of Johnson County.
